2007 - Expansion of the Collection, the database, and website is now funded from grants and donations.  We are very grateful to the following who gave us financial support in 2006-2007:

2006 - from April the Fritsch Collection returns to the ownership of the Freshwater Biological Association (FBA).

2002 - the British Phycological Society funds a project to extend the author citations database to 3000 records.

1997 - with funding by the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH) and the FBA, a new electronic database is created and we begin to input citations of algal publications in the Fritsch Collection.  This now allows searching of author citations and includes data on geographical locations.

1987 - funding is received from the Royal Society and from ICI for the updating and expansion of the original Fritsch Collection of freshwater algal illustrations.
